Winter Stroll Hat & Cowl

Updated: Mar 4, 2021

Happy 2021! We're 9 days into the year and I am proud to admit I'm doing the best I've ever done on my new years resolutions/goals than any other year. (Sad to admit, but usually I've given up by now...) I think part of that is because I have a tendency to set big and complicated goals and get discouraged almost immediately. Anyone else?

This year, I've focused on smaller, attainable goals that will get me to those big goals. One of the goals I've set for myself this year is to take Finley for a walk every day. He's a high energy dog but he's also obsessed with food- which means over quarantine I've been home every day, all day since I work from home- and he and I have both packed on the "COVID-19". Dogs and human's who snack together, stick together, right? ;)

I decided that making myself a new hat and some new fleece lined legging would be the ticket to keep myself from falling into the 'it's too cold' excuse that's easy to use in MN during the winter months. I added a cowl to the set because I always hate having a cold face- and if the pandemic has normalized anything, it's wearing a mask.

This pattern is quick and easy to make & nice and toasty in the cold weather. I used Lion Brand's Heartland yarn- one of my favs! It's 100% acrylic so it has a "wool" look without the scratchy wool feel. I love the variations in the colors and how it has a nice draping and feels semi-light but is plenty warm. Add the fur pom on top and you're looking stylish in the cold weather.

Happy Crocheting!
